Total Wireless - Misleading-Dishonest marketing
Total Wireless offers a $25 a month plan that includes text and voice. They suggest adding 3 gb of data for $10, and their own marketing pitch reports the data doesn't expire if you keep you plan active. I kept my plan active, but the data didn't carry over, and customer service reports the data "only" stays active on more expensive plans.
"Plus, you can Add On Carryoverยฎ data at anytime that does not expire with active service"
Here's an excerpt of the conversation with C.S.
Kevyn: You added a service plan that deactivated the data feature and when a new service plan that includes data, the other 2GB will be available for usage again.
You: Is it understood I have active service now, I can text and use voice. There was no interruption.
Kevyn: That means that the data is not expired.
You: please apply it so it is avaiable.
You: It was available previously with the same type of plan.
Kevyn: I am sorry but we cannot activate the data feature, that means that we will have to change your plan to the $35.00 service plan and you did not pay for that plan. Once you add a new service plan, add one that includes data so you will be able to use the other GB of that as well.
Reason of review: Not as described/ advertised.
Monetary Loss: $50.
Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.
Total Wireless Pros: Price, Potential to save lots on cell bill.
Total Wireless Cons: Data stopping every month when it should not expire, Dishonest marketing.
Location: Kuna, Idaho

This is a dumb complaint. You were on a service that provides no data. Just paying $10 on the $35 plan would have given you 5gb + buying the added would give you 8gb.
Their customer service reps are totally confused. I have the $25 plan, with the $10 add-on for 3gb of data.
My data was going off every month, and the reps kept telling me that my plan has no data. They told me that data would not work on my plan even with a $10 card for data. Finally, Corporate Office got into the game and told me that it was a bug in the system that was stopping my data every month, so they fixed it and now it works fine! Problem was, it took about 25 hours on the phone with customer service and Corp.
reps to fix the mess!!!
All their reps and even Corp.
reps need much more training, as it seems that very few of them know anything about their product or how to fix it. If the rates were lower, it would be better to deal with all the stress of dealing with them.
Good job on the persistence...
What TW is saying is that you can't add COVERAGE/OVERAGE data to a plan that never had data to begin with.
Can't add a gallon of gasoline to a pedal bike.
You can add it to a moped (lowest level it applies to) or to a Kawasaki or to a Harley (higher and higher levels).
You were trying to do what I wished T-Mobile would do..A LA CART.
If they had, I would not have left Tmo and be suffering razor slices on my wrists and neck dealing with with TOTAL (bs).
Im going to go get drunk now...without my phone since it's not working anyway!
Perhaps u missed the fact that it does work. It isn't adding gas to a bicycle......
You buy a motorcycle, buy the gas separately, enjoy a properly working engine all month, but at the beginning of the next month, the gas can't be used!
